From actor to advocate, Robin Padilla has always stood for every Filipino, regardless of socio-economic status. Behind his strong and rugged façade lies a soft heart that beats for the greater good and well-being of his kababayan. It comes to no surprise then that when the call for rehabilitation for war-torn Marawi came, the actor was at the forefront of relief and rescue services.
Last year, Padilla launched the Tindig Marawi program, a movement that seeks to help the government rebuild Marawi and provide assistance to its residents with the help and support of individuals, corporations and organizations. The actor himself has donated Php5 million to be used for the psychosocial intervention and therapy for Marawi children, and lent a hand to personally distribute relief goods, amounting to Php5 million, to the affected families.
Padilla has also been vocal about the support that Tindig Marawi has been receiving from his friends and colleagues from the showbiz industry. Just a couple of months after the project was unveiled, it has already raised more than Php10 million. There are also talks about an upcoming movie focused on the Marawi crisis, with proceeds going straight to the rehabilitation funds. Donations are still accepted and can be coursed through the Liwanag ng Kapayapaan Foundation, Inc.
Through his efforts, Robin has made it clear: Change can come from one person. It just takes one individual with a lot of heart to spark change and spread hope to millions of people.
